Air New Zealand is preparing to roll out a new business class cabin despite the aviation sector being in crisis as a result of Covid-19, travel agents have been told. The national carrier has slightly ramped up its domestic operation now that New Zealand is in Alert Level 2 however, its international network remains a skeleton of what it once was.

There are no new cases of coronavirus in New Zealand on Saturday. The Ministry of Health made the announcement via a statement just after 1pm. The country's combined total of confirmed and probable cases remains at 1498, with 95 percent of all cases recovered.

A senior economist has predicted more than 5000 Southlanders will lose their jobs because of the Covid-19 pandemic, most in the tourism sector. Infometrics senior economists Brad Olsen and Nick Brunson ?hosted a Great South webinar on the impact of COVID-19 and the different recovery scenarios specific to the Southland region, on Wednesday.
