Materials Sector Encountered Significant Buying: A Quick Look

On 26th October 2021, the equity market in NZ closed in red. However, materials sector witnessed significant buying. Notably, NZX 50 Index and NZX 20 Index witnessed a fall of 0.14% and 0.19%, respectively. NZX All Materials witnessed a rise of 2.50% and NZX All Communications Services fell by 1.23%.

Performance of Indices:

NZX 50 Index closed at 13,075.41, implying ~6.72% increase in the time frame of previous 1 year. MidCap Index and SmallCap Index ended at 6,524.26 and 23,347.24 points, respectively.

Gainers and Losers:

In the release dated 22nd October 2021, Bremworth Limited (NZX: BRW) mentioned that Rachel Walsh has stepped down from the role as Director, because of the newly notified concern by PwC.

Marlborough Wine Estates Group Limited (NZX: MWE) rose by 10.71% to NZ$0.310 per share. Evolve Education Group Limited (NZX: EVO) rose by 7.89%.

Movement on Wall Street:

On 25th October 2021, NASDAQ Composite rose by 0.90% to 15,226.71. Also, Dow Jones Industrials Average increased by 0.18% to 35,741.15.
