Retail Sales Slump By Pandemic Restrictions: Stats NZ

As per the Stats NZ report, in March 2020 quarter, kiwis spent less on eating out, vehicles, and accommodation away from home.

After a comparatively flat December 2019 quarter, sales fell by 0.7 per cent in March 2020.

In the last eight years, it is the sharpest decline in retail sales volume, cited retail statistics manager Kathy Hicks. In the hospitality sector, sales of businesses offering food and beverages declined by 6.7 per cent and accommodation services by 9.3 per cent.
