Trigon Metals Inc (TSXV:TM)
MiningTrigon Metals is a Canadian mineral development and exploration firm.
It is a junior mining firm listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the trading symbol of ‘TM’.
The exploration company is mainly focused on the production of copper through its Namibian subsidiary Manila Investments. The company’s flagship project is the Kombat Mine located in the Otavi Mountainlands.
Along with this property, the company owns 80 per cent stake in five mining licenses with high grade copper deposits.
Trigon Metals leverages its huge production potential, extensive infrastructure, and low capital expenditure profile to create shareholder value and operate on underexplored mining properties with known copper mineralization, reportedly.
In 1851, Sir Francis Galton discovered copper in the Otavi Mountains. In 1947, these copper producing assets were acquired by Tsumeb Corporation Limited (TCL). The Kombat Mines were flooded in 1988 and the production on the property had to halt for one year, the firm says.
In 1998, TCL liquidated its assets and Ongopolo mining & Processing acquired the assets.
In 2006, the assets were undertaken by the Weatherly International Plc and the AFW shaft was subsequently commissioned. All operations on the property were ceased in 2008 due to floods.
Trigon Metals, formerly Kombat Copper Inc, took over the assets in 2012. The company was also known by the name Pan Terra Industries in the past.
The exploration company operates through three major projects as of 2021:
• Kombat Mine
• Silver Hill Project
• Gross Otavi
The Kombat Mine is said to be the most significant mine located in Namibia region. Originally the mining initiated on this property in 1962 and continued till 2008. During this period, the mine successfully produced 12.46 million tons of copper ore with grading of 2.6 per cent Cu. The company has deployed a massive infrastructure on this property including 800-meter shaft, two vertical shafts, three decline shafts comprising of ramp systems, underground working systems, tailings facilities, concentrator and, mine buildings.
The mine is linked to an efficient existing infrastructure including roads, power, and rails, the firm claims.
The Asis Far West (AFW) mineralization zone previously commissioned by Weatherly International Plc was developed by Trigon Metals Inc after the mining was ceased due to underground flooding.
Trigon currently owns 80 per cent interest in this property. The Canadian firm says that deep diamond drilling programs in 2015 have resulted in discovery of high-grade copper and silver on the AFW mineralized zone.
