Sigma Lithium Corporation is a junior mining, exploration and development company that primarily focuses on lithium production.
The Vancouver-based lithium company operates mineral assets and properties in Brazil, especially in Minas Gerais State
These properties are situated roughly 450 kilometers on the northeastern edge of Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
Sigma Lithium Corporation owns 27 mining claims spanning a total area of more than 191 square kilometers.
The SGMA lithium projects are categorized into the Northern Complex and the Southern Complex, which includes nine historic lithium mines and 11 important exploration targets, and four main mineral properties.
These consists of Santa Clara Genipapo, Grota do Cirilo, and São José.
The company holds a 100 per cent stake in the Grota do Cirilo Property that hosts lithium rock mines across North America and South America.
Since 2018, Sigma claims to be involved in the pilot production of battery grade lithium concentrates at the project site. The company is planning to augment the commercial operations in two phases:
• Phase I: Involves expanding the production capacity to 33,000 tons of lithium concentrate equilibrium (LCE).
• Phase II: Further increase the production capacity to 65,000 tons of lithium concentrate equilibrium (LCE).
The property is equipped with proper infrastructure, including water requirements by Jequitinhonha River, electricity needs by Irape Hydropower Plant), and roads and ports connectivity to transport its product across the key markets of North America, Europe, and Asia.
Sigma also claims to actively engage in minimizing the net carbon footprint of its mining and exploration operations.
The company claims to power its production process through clean energy and water recirculation circuit technology that involves dry stack tailings, which can be fully recycled and safe to be used in ancillary industries.
The publicly listed firm is strategically making its production process eco-friendly to earn carbon credits and aims to achieve net-zero carbon emission goal by 2023.
Its stocks are traded on TSX Venture Exchange and OTCQB under ‘SGML’ and ‘SGMLF’.
