First Cobalt Corp is a Toronto-based company that develops and produces battery-grade cobalt.
The North American firm produces battery materials and explores for mineral properties in Canada and the United States.
The Canadian firm reportedly aims to restore Li-Ion battery materials in order to recycle nickel, cobalt, copper and other battery-grade materials in the phase II expansion program.
The company transports its products for battery and electric vehicle manufacturers in North American and European markets.
First Cobalt owns and operates a hydrometallurgical facility and claims to have lowest carbon emission in the US and European markets.
It also owns and operates at an US-based growing cobalt-copper mineral deposit located in Idaho. The firm claims to cater to domestic demand in North America through this.
First Cobalt aims to become the world’s leading pure-play cobalt producer.
It presently operates at three crucial North American assets: Iron Creek Project in Idaho, First Cobalt Refinery and Greater Cobalt Project in the Canadian Cobalt Camp.
First Cobalt Refinery
It is one of the developers and producers of refined cobalt that distribute its services in the North American electric vehicle market. The refinery is located in Ontario, Canada, which is lies close to manufacturing centers approximately 600 kilometers from the US border, the firm claims.
Through the facility, the firm aims to develop cobalt metal or cobalt sulfate for various industrial application, including lithium-ion battery production or for use in aerospace industry in North America.
The Canadian firm claims that facility will commence operation in early 2022. It further says once operational, the cobalt refinery will contribute nearly 25,000 tons of cobalt sulfate (battery-grade) per annum.
Iron Creek Project in Idaho
It lies in the historic Blackbird Mine and the Idaho Cobalt Belt, the exploration firm claims.
The property consists of several exploration claims and mining patents in 1,698 acres of area.
The Toronto-based firm claims through significant infrastructure at the site, multiple drills and underground activity could be supported.
In 2018, the company claims to have designed a 26,500-meter drilling program to test mineralized areas in the Cobalt Camp. The 2018 Cobalt Camp Program is divided into three regions, including Cobalt North, Central and South. Significant deposits at the property includes Kerr, Drummond, Juno, Ophir, Hamilton, Silver Banner and Silverfields deposits located in Cobalt North; the Caswell deposit located in Cobalt Central; and the Bellellen, Keeley and Frontier deposit in Cobalt South.
