Description

Itafos Inc is a junior basic materials firm listed on the Toronto Stock Venture Exchange.

The vertically integrated fertilizer company primarily produces, markets, and sells phosphate and specialized products to the agriculture industry.

The Texas-based specialty fertilizer company operates under two lines of businesses: Conda and Arraias.

Conda

It is the firm’s wholly owned phosphate fertilizer business in Idaho, the United States. The onsite infrastructure consists of mine, granulation plant, phosphoric acid plant and beneficiation plant.

The product offerings under this segment are MAP, MAP+, SPA, MGA, and APP.

The Conda business has an annual production capacity of 550,000 tons (kt) with an expected mine life till mid-2026.

The mineral reserves consist of 13.1 metric tons of Phosphorus Pentoxide (P2O5) at an average of 26.6 percent. In addition, the firm claims that the measured and indicated mineral resources are 50.3 metric tons of P2O5 at an average of 25.5 percent.

Arraias

Arraias is a phosphate business located in Tocantins, Brazil. The company owns a 98.3 percent stake in the business segment. The business is fully facilitated by mine, granulation plant, acidulation plant and beneficiation plant.

The Arraias’ products include SSP, SSP+ and excess sulfuric acid. This business segment has an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons (kt) of SSP and SSP+ and 40 thousand tons (kt) of excess sulfuric acid.

The business line consists of 79.0 MT of measured and indicated mineral resources at an average of 4.9 per cent of P2O5.

Apart from the principal businesses, Itafos Inc is involved in operating and developing several projects:

• Farim Project: The phosphate mine project, located in Guinea-Bissau, is wholly owned by the firm. Farim Project’s annual production capacity is 1.3 metric tons with a 25 years mine life.

• Santana Project: The Brazil-based phosphate fertilizer project has an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of SSP and 30,000 tons of excess sulfuric acid. Itafos has 99.4 percent stake in the project.

• Araxa: It is another wholly owned project in the firm’s portfolio. The project consists of niobium and rare earth element mine and extraction plant in Brazil.

• Paris Hills: The US-based phosphate mine project has an annual production capacity of 1.0 metric tons.

• Mantaro: It is a 100 per cent owned phosphate project located in Peru.
