Yamana Gold Inc is a Canada-based company engaged in the mining of precious metals like gold and silver.
Its asset portfolio includes five producing mines, various development stage and exploration properties and mineral reserves. The company has significant operations across Canada, America, Chile, Brazil and Argentina.
Yamana Gold Inc is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, London Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange.
The producing mines portfolio consists of high-quality, life-long assets, including:
Cerro Moro: Cerro Moro is an open-pit, underground mine of gold and silver, 100 per cent owned by Yamana Gold. Cerro Moro is located in Santa Cruz, Argentina, approximately 70 kilometers to the south of Puerto Deseado. The company acquired Extorre Gold mines in 2012, and the production began in 2018. The company also focuses on exploration and engineering studies, intending to extend the mine life by up to 10 years. The mine life is majorly dependent on mineral reserves, which consists of an integrated operation from underground stopes and open pits. Exploration activities involve soil and rock sampling, trenching, diamond drilling and geological mapping.
EL PEÑÓN: The company has full ownership rights of the open-pit gold mine, located in northern Chile in the Atacama Desert. Yamana gold purchased Meridian Gold in 2007 and obtained its stake in the EL PEÑÓN mines. The company claims to maintain a mineral reserve life of six to eight years. The production at the mine commenced in 1999.
JACOBINA: Jacobina is an underground mine located in the Bahia state of Brazil. With the purchase of Desert Sun Mining in 2006, the company acquired a 100 per cent interest in the mine. It has five underground gold mines: João Belo, Morro do Vento, Serra do Córrego, Morro do Cuscuz and Canavieiras. In 2014, Yamana gold made considerable investments in delineation drilling, geological modelling, mine planning and underground development to accelerate the production capacity.
The other two open-pit producing mines are Canadian Malartic and Minera Florida, which contains gold deposits.
The company's portfolio consists of over ten exploration properties across North America and South America. The gold producer aims for long-term sustainable expansion by optimizing existing mine projects, developing and advancing exploration properties and consolidating opportunities in the Americas.
