The Canadian company operates pipelines that transports heavy oil, synthetic oil, hydrocarbon liquids, oil sands, natural gas liquids, etc.
In addition, it transports natural gas and hydrocarbon liquids in Western Canada.
Headquartered in Calgary, the integrated company was incorporated in 1954 in Alberta as an operator of the pipeline system and an oil transporting company within the Pembina field.
In 1991 it acquired Peace Pipe Line Ltd, and the Pembina Pipeline Income Fund was created in 1997.
The energy company acquired Federated Pipe Lines Ltd and Western Facilities Fund’s pipeline assets in British Columbia in 2001. The company further acquired Alberta Oil Sands Pipeline Ltd and non-operating interest in the Fort Saskatchewan Ethylene Storage L.P in coming years.
It acquired the Cochin Pipeline and Kinder Morgan Canada in 2019.
The midstream services provider operates over 18,000 kilometres of oil sands, conventional and heavy oil pipelines across North America.

Pipeline: The pipeline network consists of traditional assets and strategically located pipelines that gather and transport crude oil, natural gas liquids, light and condense oil across Alberta and British Columbia. In addition, these pipelines transport heavy and synthetic oil developed within Alberta's province, deliver rail services and storage facilities. Across the United States and Canada, it transports its product, ethane and natural gas, through long haul pipelines, which connect to key market hubs. Pembina pipeline network also connects the company’s upstream and downstream assets.
Facilities: Pembina’s facility division handles natural gas processing infrastructure and other associated assets. The company says the facilities division is fully-integrated with other business segments and provides customers with services to enhance increase the value of hydrocarbons. It offers a broad range of processing services, including compression, stabilization and gas gathering services.
Marketing & New Ventures: The segment creates value-addition for existing markets as well as creating new ones. It undertakes commodity marketing like buying and selling natural gas, crude oils, hydrocarbon liquids, butane, propane, etc.
The company primarily operates in the resource-rich Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin and transports products in Canada and the United States.
