Founded in 2002, MLG commenced operations as a small contractor providing silica mining and haulage services for BHP Billiton. From 2004, the company began investing in sand and hard rock quarries strategically located near certain key mining hubs, with the goal of becoming a provider of construction materials (such as sand, aggregate, cement and lime) to mining operations.
In 2005, MLG secured its first sand supply contract from Holcim Australia, and in 2011 it bagged its first integrated services supply contract at Gold Fields’ Agnew site. In 2014, MLG was awarded its first contract-crushing contract with Fortescue, a relationship that continues as at the Prospectus Date
Over the years, MLG has established itself as one of the biggest contractors of ‘supply-chain solutions’ for mining firms, offering key mine site services, haulage, and logistics solutions to a diversified client base with an extensive, well-maintained fleet and established market credibility in the Western Australian market.
These services also extend to the supply of construction materials, crushing and screening services and port-related export services. It has a primary exposure to gold and iron ore, which are its major source of revenue generation.
The company operates 29 sites throughout Western Australia and the Northern Territory and has expanded to include comprehensive supply chain solutions including crushing and screening, quarry products and bulk transport services. The company seeks to integrate the production support services it provides within its client’s operations and position itself as a key part of their mine production.
The core site services offered by MLG comprise labour and machine hire, tailings handling, maintenance of vehicles and roads, general site maintenance and rehabilitation work. It provides on-road haulage services to transport product to Esperance Port and provides export logistics and port services in the form of bulk handling, container handling and storage.
MLG’s portfolio of work includes exposure to gold, nickel and iron ore mining operations and end markets. The company seeks to obtain exposure to other commodities and commodity markets to further its portfolio diversification and exposure to long-life assets.
The company generates revenue through the provision of an integrated service model across the full mining production cycle from raw commodity production through to linking client operations to end markets.
