Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) is primarily an American e-commerce company. The company also provides web services such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital streaming. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, US, Amazon.com Inc is one of the largest and most valuable brands globally and is one of the Big five information technology (IT) companies in the US. The company was founded in 1994 by Jeff Bezos as an online retail store for books in his garage in Bellevue, Washington. Gradually the business expanded, and it started selling electronic goods, software, video games, apparels, furniture, food, jewellery, and many more things through its platform. Amazon became the most valuable retailer in the US in terms of their market capitalization (surpassing Walmart) in 2015.

The company provides a wide selection of products to its customers to meet almost all their needs by equally giving importance to convenience, best deal, and more options. The trust Amazon has gained over time from about 1.7 million small and medium businesses worldwide makes such offering possible. These products are either owned by Amazon or by a third party. The platform through which they provide their services to the customers is their own website, mobile application, Alexa, online streaming platform, and even physically from their stores. The physical retailer store's existence of Amazon became popular after they acquired the ownership of Whole Food Market for more than US$13 billion in 2017. In 2018, the company started their two-day delivery service (Amazon Prime) and gained more than 100 million subscribers worldwide. Amazon manufactures its own electronic devices like Kindle, Fire Tablet, Fire TV, Echo, to name a few and produces media content. Amazon seeks to be the most customer-centric company in the world. The company runs its business with a vision to satisfy their customers in every manner rather than focusing on their competitors.

  • Amazon reinvented its packaging after it realised that its customers want something else. The company appreciated the customers today want to support the ecosystem and therefore want right-sized, environmentally friendly, and recyclable packaging. Beginning 2015, more than 33% weight of the outbound packaging and about 900,000 tons of packaging material have been eliminated by Amazon.
