Equinor ASA, a publicly listed company, provides energy solutions across the globe.

The company was initially as the Norwegian State Oil Company in 1972. In 2001, it was renamed as Statoil ASA and became a public listed company with stocks traded on Oslo and New York stock exchanges. Its stocks trade on NYSE under ‘EQNR’ ticker.

Further in May 2018, the energy company was rebranded as Equinor ASA. It is headquartered in Stavanger, Norway.

The international energy company develops gas, oil, solar energy and wind energy projects, and focuses on exploration and offshore operations. The exploration company has operations in over 30 countries.

Equinor ASA is reportedly one of the largest offshore operators in Norway and claims to serve around 170 million people every day.

The energy company also develops and produces oil and gas resources in Brazil, including significant licenses in deep water areas.

Equinor ASA also provides processed products like condensates, naphtha, petrochemicals, wet gas, methane, liquids, petrol, diesel, etc. In addition, the energy company reportedly powers more than 650,000 British homes.

In the 1970s, the energy producer acquired its first license to operate in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS). Equinor ASA undertakes approximately 4,300 ship voyages per year and markets and transports 70 per cent of NCS gas, reportedly. It also has business activities in trading, shipping, and transportation, refining and terminals, and decommissioning.

Equinor ASA reportedly focuses on electrification of entire gas and oil operations in a bid to replace fossil-based supply of power with renewable energy. As part of its sustainable approach, the company claims to achieve net zero emissions from its gas and oil operations on NCS by 2050.
