Mrs Juliet Tainui-Hernandez has been appointed as the Assistant Governor and General Manager of Transformation and People in the Reserve Bank of New Zealand. She shall be based in the Bank's Auckland office and shall complete the Reserve Bank's senior leadership team. Earlier, she has worked with local Iwi and a large New Zealand law firm. She has also worked in Hong Kong, Australia, and England in various roles ranging from strategy, development, litigation and dispute resolution, risk management, regulatory compliance, transformation projects, and broad people management roles.
As per the Stats NZ, in June 2020 quarter, New Zealand’s border crossings decline sharply due to pandemic related international travel restrictions. Also, there was a slowdown in migration during this time. The total number of NZ border crossings was only 78,400, down from 3.14 million in the corresponding period in 2019. The total departures were 57,200, and nearly 90 per cent of these were non-New Zealand citizens. The total arrivals were 21,100 that include a mix of short-term tourists and migrants.
SkyCity Entertainment Group Limited (ASX:SKC) announced that from 12 August 2020, it would close its Auckland casino and entertainment facilities. It would be implementing physical distancing & hygiene conditions at its Hamilton and Queenstown properties. Its Auckland hotels would remain open to accommodate the present guests currently staying in-house, awaiting further guidance from the New Zealand Government. The company has taken these steps a per the announcement by the New Zealand Government last night.
