Plunge in NZ's International Networth | NZ Market Update

As per the Stats NZ report, New Zealand's seasonally adjusted current account deficit has decreased NZD 372 million to NZD 1.6 billion in the March 2020 quarter. The smaller deficit resulted due to the trade in goods with the goods shortage reducing NZD 613 million to NZD 213 million. New Zealand's services surplus decreased by NZD 83 million to NZD 983 million during the quarter.

Willie Jackson, the Employment Minister, welcomes an increase of more than $30.3 million to the Mana in Mahi – Strength in Work program. With extra funding Mana in Mahi enlarges to include Growing the wage subsidy rate to up to $16,000 for the 1st year and up to $8,000 for the 2nd year, Growing the length of the program from 12 months up to 24 months; Paying for extra education support, such as literacy and numeracy training and Supporting employers to pay for industry training course fees.


The Commerce Commission has approved a major capital expenditure offer from Transpower New Zealand Limited. If settled, the decision would permit the company to invest and boost its revenue to recover a maximum of $154 million on grid assets and equipment to operate voltage stability in the Upper North Island and Waikato region.
