On 24 November 2020, AMP Capital disclosed the appointment of its new MD & Head of Clients Rebekah Swan for its NZ business.
AMP Capital is a part of the AMP Group and is a global investment manager with a large presence in Australia. AMP Limited (NZX:AMP) overall is a wealth management company that was established in 1849 and has a growing retail banking business and an increasing international investment management business.
Presently, Ms Swan is NZ Head of Product and ESG Investment Specialist and has served the organisation for nearly 19 years.

Rebekah is an extremely respected & recognised member in the Company’s team and has played an essential role in bringing several global products & abilities to the local clients of AMP Capital.
AMP Capital believes that Rebekah in the combined role of NZ Managing Director & Head of Clients will enable her to concentrate completely on the growing, developing and supporting the changing needs of the business and fulfil the requirements of the clients in New Zealand.
Within AMP Capital, Ms Swan held several positions starting as Business Analyst in the Finance Team. She has a profound knowledge of the business. Gradually she moved to the Relationship Management team and took more senior roles, which includes the Head of Distribution.
The most recent role of Ms Swan was ESG investment Specialist for NZ. In this role, she increased focus, involvement, and influence in the Responsible Investment space. At the same time, she was working with clients leading on strategy by heading up the Product team.

Launch of shopping centres Google Street View:
AMP Capital would launch its shopping centres in Google Street View. By showcasing the inside of 18 AMP Capital-managed shopping centres throughout Australia & New Zealand, the customers through Google Street could virtually visit the centre prior to leaving their home. With this, customers can plan their shopping journey and get acquainted with their preferred centre. This is an exciting move in AMP Capital’s wayfinding journey.
Roll-Out of AI system across the real estate portfolio globally
On 23 October 2020, AMP Capital announced that it would roll-out new energy-saving AI technology that would help to control building comfort & energy use automatically to show adjustments in outside temperature plus the occupancy of the building.
Through this step, the Company would be able to reduce 20% to 40% carbon footprint. It would also reduce energy spending by 20%. There would be a 60% improvement in comfort for people occupying the buildings.
The autonomous Artificial Intelligence heating, ventilation and air conditioning system would be implemented across AMP Capital’s entire managed real estate portfolio by Canadian-based AI company, BrainBox AI. The step taken by AMP Capital would help lessen the carbon footprint and make buildings a comfortable place to work or visit. Also, it would help create an exceptional customer experience for the customer and drive significant value and cost efficiencies for the investors.
