Dividends reflect distribution of corporate profits based on the number of shares held in a company. Dividends offer certainty about the financial situation of a company. Subsequently, investors watch out for companies with high dividend payouts.

A dividend payout is often seen by investors as a reflection of a company's strength and a sign that the company's board has high hopes for potential profits, making the stock more appealing.
