Primary Sector Jobs Grew, Exports Show Resilience Through COVID-19

Agriculture Minister Damien O'Connor said that despite the global effects of the pandemic, strong international demand for NZ's food could provide a springboard to get more Kiwis into primary sector jobs.

The latest provisional trade statistics suggest that fruit exported between 1 February and 22 April 2020 is of worth NZD 890 million, and apples and kiwifruits continue to be star performers. Dairy and meat sectors have exported worth NZD 6.18 billion over the same period, he added.
