NZD 80 Million Investment for Sports Recovery

As a part of the NZD 265 million, Sports Recovery Package announced in Budget 2020; Grant Robertson has today announced the first significant release of funding for sports recovery at all level. 


The government revealed how the initial NZD 80 million would be utilised for sports recovery. The main highlights are:

  • NZD 68 million funds (T? Manawa Active Aotearoa) to support community sport. 
  • NZD 25.4 million funds for Sport NZ’s national partners to strengthen and adapt. 
  • NZD 10 million for a second Community Resilience Fund.
  • NZD 7.3 million packages to improve facilities for New Zealand’s upcoming hosting of world cups.
