Frontline Health and Disability Workers to Get More Support from The Government

On the occasion of International Nurses Day, Health Minister David Clark announced three initiatives to support health and disability workers.

The initiatives include:

  • The government will fund NZD 10 million for ring-fenced accommodation of health and disability workers. It will help the health workers to stay away from family during the pandemic if they have vulnerable family members at home.
  • There will be phone counselling service to support the mental health of these health workers.
  • A dedicated number to access advice from peers.
