Founded in 2004, Atalaya Mining Plc, formerly EMED Mining Public Limited, is a Cyprus-based mining and development business that produces copper concentrates and silver by-product at its wholly owned Proyecto Riotinto site in Southwest Spain and it is currently focusing of the on operational expansion and exploration to secure growth. The company has an earn-in agreement to acquire a Brownfield copper Proyecto Touro project in northwest Spain up to 80% ownership which is at the permitting stage. The company’s shares are listed on the AIM segment of the London Stock Exchange as LON: ATYM and has secondary listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange as TSX: EMD.

The company’s objective is to maximize the potential value of its current low risk and cost and further exploring new projects to become a leading multi-asset copper producer in Europe  and to ensure that high value can be deliver to shareholders, local communities and other stakeholders. The company’s core operations include Proyecto Riotinto and Proyecto Touro. The company acquired the 100% interest of Proyecto Riotinto Copper mine in 2008 in Andalucia, Spain. The project is an open-pit copper mine located in the Iberian Pyrite Belt, around 65 km northwest of Seville and with commercial production rate of 15 Mtpa.  

The company in 2017 acquired 10% of share capital of Cobre San Rafael S.L. as a part of an earn-in contract to obtain up to 80% interest in the Brownfield Proyecto Touro copper project in Gakicia in northwest Spain. The company is engaged in creating a portfolio that combines producing, development and exploration assets.  The company is also focused evaluating the viability of its projects, including resource evaluation, drilling, metallurgical test work, planning and plant engineering needed to fast track the project to feasibility stage ahead of permitting.
