Vicinity Motor Corp supplies electric, clean diesel and compressed natural gas-based buses across North America.
In March 2021, the firm, earlier known as Grande West Transportation Group, was rebranded to Vicinity Motor Corp. The transportation services company is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the ticker of ‘VMC’.
It provides a fleet of trucks and buses for enterprise use by public as well as commercial clients across Canada and the United States. The manufacturing company produces its Vicinity™ Buses at a facility in Washington State.
The firm aims to lead the transition to sustainable transport mode through its innovative bus line, Vicinity Lightning™ EV bus, reportedly equipped with BMW batteries and components.
The EV bus reportedly has a seating capacity of up to 34 passengers with a curb weight of approximately 7,500 kilograms.
The company, founded in 2008, has major business operations in the United States and Canada. The bus manufacturing firm further focuses on providing mid-sized buses and leverage this advantage over its competitors in the transit industry. The company manufactures its specialty bus under the Vicinity™ brand, which includes a fleet of heavy to medium-duty mid-sized buses.
The transportation services company claims to provide an affordable, accessible, and mid-sized community transit vehicle, which costs less than the conventional buses. The firm says that it focuses on sustainable revenue generation and meeting the growing demand of transit vehicle fleets in the United States and Canada.
Vicinity Motor Corp reportedly partners with ABC Companies for support, sale and service operations.
On June 14, 2021, the vehicle company announced a contract of supplying 14 Vicinity Lightning Electric Vehicle buses worth more than C$ 6 million to Calgary Transit. It further adds that the order delivery is to be completed in 2022. Under the agreement, Calgary Transit will have an option to buy supplemental vehicles at a predefined price over the period of next five years, the firm adds.
