• It has been decided by the federal government that the 40 hour cap on fortnightly work for international students will be removed. There are approximately 300,000 students who the cap was previously imposed on.

• This morning Greater Sydney has recorded no new locally acquired cases of Covid-19, however restrictions including wearing of masks on public transport and public places excluding retail shops have been put into place until 17 May 12am. Victoria on the other hand has recorded 6 new cases in their hotel quarantine system but not locally acquired.

• Federal government’s budget which will be released on Tuesday morning. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has advised he is not concerned about the trillion dollar debt Australia is currently in, as it is a pandemic budget. In a record billion dollar spending the federal government will focus on reducing the unemployment rate by maintaining the existing Jobtrainer program which was due to expire.
