Experienced gold explorer, First Au Limited (ASX:FAU) announced the addition of Dr Gavin England to the FAU’s board as the Technical Director. The onboarding of Dr England to the board is subsequent to the completion of the acquisition of 80% interest in the issued share capital of Victorian Goldfields Pty Ltd (“VicGold”).
VicGold holds the mining leases and tenement applications in the Victorian Goldfields especially the Haunted Stream Gold project in the East Gippsland region of Victoria. Victorian goldfields project is a premium gold project in the Lachlan fold belt.

Seasoned Geologist joins FAU Board
Dr Gavin England served as the Chief Consulting Geologist for the past 2 years, leading exploration programs at First Au’s mineral projects. His guidance was critical to the estimation of the maiden JORC code compliant mineral resource of 69,000 ounces of Gold at the Gimlet Gold Project in the vicinity of Kalgoorlie Goldfields. He was also involved in the gold discovery at Gimlet.
Furthermore, Dr England was also critical in securing the acquisition of VicGold and its prospective gold properties in the Victoria goldfields.
On 25 September 2020, First Au had announced the granting of tenement lease for the flagship Haunted Stream following which the on groundwork commenced immediately. The grant of the Haunted Stream tenement licence (EL006816) was among the final condition for the completion of the acquisition of VicGold.
Dr England appointment to the board brings substantial technical experience to the First Au’s board. He holds a PhD in Geology from the University of Western Australia, a bachelor’s in science from Curtin University (Dux of Year) in Western Australia and was a postgraduate research fellow at the University of Edinburgh.
He holds both local as well as international exposure to numerous mining companies including Consolidated Minerals, Lion Ore, Normandy Group, Gold Fields, White Cliff Nickel, Impact Minerals, Energy and Minerals Australia and Magnetite Mines.
Dr England also served as a consultant offering his expertise in the project management, business development and technical advisory domains for numerous junior public and private minerals explorers.
First Au traded at $0.017 a share on 16 October 2020, with a market capitalisation of $10.22 million.
