Founded in 2009, Castillo Copper Ltd is an Australian-based copper-focused exploration company with four projects across Australia and Zambia. The company has selected these projects for their potential to develop economic mineral resources. In 2013, the company acquired Australia-based Castillo Exploration Pty Ltd, in 2017 it completed the Acquisitions of Total Minerals Pty Ltd, the Total Iron Pty Ltd and the Qld Commodities Pty Ltd and in 2020, the company acquired Zed Copper Pty Ltd. The company has a dual listing on London Stock Exchange and Australia Stock Exchange.
The company’s goal is to become a mid-tier copper producer by focusing on resource exploration projects with potential of disciplined and structured exploration and analysis. The company’s project portfolio has four main projects that include Mt Oxide, Zambia, Broken Hill and Cangai Copper Mine. Mt Oxide copper project is wholly owned by the company, located in the Mt Isa copper-belt of Queensland, Australia. The project has potential to deliver material exploration upside with 22 viable targets that are highly prospective for copper exploration. Castillo Cooper acquired the project license in 2017 and undertook a mass digitalization programme to analyze archived exploration data.
The Zambia project is operated by Castillo Copper and holds four highly-prospective exploration projects in Zambia, the second largest copper producer in Africa. The four projects include North& South Lumwana, Mkushi, Mwansa ,and Luanshya that together covers around 1,100 km sq in Zambia’s renowned copper-belt. The Broken Hill project of the company has Four tenements that surrounds Broken Hill, largest high-grade silver, zinc and lead deposit and is highly prospective for Broken Hill Type in the west zone and Iron oxide copper gold mineralization in the east zone. The Cangai project is a wholly owned project of the company with focus on the Cangai Copper Mine, which is one of the highest grade copper resources in Australia through completion of a JORC code complaint inferred resources of 3.3 Mt at 3.35%.
