EN+ Group was established in 2002 in Russia with a predominant focus on the manufacturing of aluminium and alumina. Since then, the group has grown organically and strategically acquired similar potential businesses to become a leading global vertically integrated aluminum and hydropower producer today. The group got listed on London Stock Exchange and Moscow Exchange and was the biggest IPO of 2017 in London. Its prime goal is to vertically integrate similar businesses and achieve self-sufficiency in the aluminum value chain, increasing the return with low risk, maintaining strong financials and help its shareholders in earning profit. It has adopted sustainable ways to conduct its business and is committed to basic ESG rules.
EN+ Group is the largest producer of low-carbon aluminium outside China and is the biggest independent hydropower generator operating in 12 countries across five continents with more than 90,000 employees in total. Its annual aluminium production capacity is of 3.9 mmt and 15.1GW of installed hydropower capacity. The group has three of 20 world’s largest HPPs. Its core operations are focused in Siberia, Russia and has the largest smelters and HPPs located there. Further, the group’s carbon emission is less than four times the industry average and is the only aluminium business to fully meet its need of hydropower and alumina.
The group operates through its two main segments: Metal and Power. The Metal segment is represented by RUSAL, it is a low-cost vertically integrated aluminum producer in Siberia. The segment manufactures approx 5.8% of the world’s aluminium output and is engaged in extraction and refinement of Bauxite into Alumina and manufacturing and sales of aluminium. Further, the segment assets include 12 aluminium smelters, nine alumina refineries and seven bauxite mines.
The Power segment contributes approx 7% of Russia’s total electricity generation and its assets are located in the east Siberian and Volga region. The segment is engaged in electricity and heat generation; electricity and heat sales and distribution; retail power trading and distribution. It has 37% of power market shares in Siberia. Further, in the power segment, the group asset includes four hydropower plants, 16 combine heat and power plants and 1 solar power plant.
