Ministry of Justice has contracted New Zealand Disputes Resolution Centre, NZDRC for offering completely funded mediation and arbitration services to eligible parties to commercial leases which are facing a dispute over the rent and outgoings payment. The Ministry of Justice has asked NZDRC to deliver fully funded arbitration and mediation services to these parties where the tenant, due to Alert Level 3 or 4 lockdown, has experienced a material loss of revenue. The only issue in dispute that can be referred to under the Scheme is where the tenant has undergone a material loss of income due to the government imposed strict lockdown restrictions.
