One of 13 men accused of murdering a teenager during a Brisbane brawl has been granted bail on his third attempt.

Girum Mekonnen, 19, was fatally stabbed when a group of youths allegedly attacked him and his friends at a Zillmere park on September 13, 2020.

Kresto Wal Wal, 27, was among a group of men charged and has been in custody since September 2020.

More than two years after Mr Mekonnen died, most of the 13 accused are still waiting for their case to proceed through the courts.

Wal Wal is among 11 defendants listed for a Brisbane Magistrates Court committal hearing in May, while another two have been committed to the Supreme Court.

It was revealed on Friday that a trial may be years away.

Justice Melanie Hindman noted that during Wal Wal's second bail application back in August 2022 it was thought a trial was possible in the second half of 2023.

"It was considered a pessimistic outlook that the trial would occur in 2024," she said in Brisbane Supreme Court on Friday.

"Events as they have unfolded have made even that pessimistic outlook impossible.

"Realistically a trial may now not occur until at least 2025."

Wal Wal's two previous bail applications - in December 2020 and August 2022 respectively - were dismissed because he was considered a flight risk, the court heard.

However, Justice Hindman on Friday found the delay in the proceeding amounted to a "material change in circumstances" and granted bail.

"That he may spend up to five years on remand is most concerning, particularly for a young man," she said.

Justice Hindman said there were other risks including Wal Wal engaging in further violent offending, interfering with witnesses and that "some vendetta might still exist" between the two groups that were subject to the 2020 affray if she granted bail.

However she was satisfied that they would be adequately addressed by the "very strict" bail conditions proposed.

They include reporting to police five days a week, no contact with co-defendants - some of whom are his brothers - as well as wearing a tracking device.

He has an 8pm to 5am curfew living with his father and cannot go near Zillmere.

The bail conditions also include a ban on drugs, alcohol and weapons as well as interstate and international travel.

Wal Wal has been charged with murder, affray and 13 counts of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
