Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA), India's leading fully integrated producer of value-added ferro chrome, has replaced existing 550 Amp capacity conductor with 800 Amp capacity HTLS (High tension Low Sag) conductor thereby enabling power transmission upto 160 MW of power as against 110 MW earlier. This replacement of existing conductor by HTLS conductor has been done for the first time in the power sector of Odisha.
HTLS is the latest state of the art conductor which has huge carrying capacity and does not sag due to temperature and flow of current. IMFA has reduced the transmission losses to minimal by replacing the conductor and enhancing the power carrying capacity of existing transmission lines.
The earlier power supplied through 132 KV ICCL Grid-Choudwar Grid line of Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited was not adequate to handle the power flow due to enhanced capacity of the CGP of IMFA at Choudwar.
With an investment of approximately Rs. 2.5 crore in the project the new HTLS transmission lines will carry more than 150 MW and will be a great help to the localities of Choudwar, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Salepur by way of improvement of voltage and grid stability.

Commenting on the results Mr. Subhrakant Panda, Managing Director and CEO, IMFA said: "Our endeavor has always been for the betterment of people in Odisha and the enhanced power transmission capacity implemented by IMFA is one such initiative. The replacement of the conductor, first of its kind in Odisha, will lead to enhanced power supply to more households thereby fuelling the power sector in the state."
