  • Solution reduces risk and speeds up time to implementation of OpenStack-based deployments

Fujitsu today delivers a new all-in-one platform that simplifies the creation of OpenStack-based private and public cloud infrastructures, developed to support organizations planning to transform their business for the cloud era via a 'digital first' strategy.

Fujitsu and Red Hat jointly developed the new FUJITSU Integrated System, PRIMEFLEX for Red Hat OpenStack. Available to order as a single unit, the system combines high-performance, energy-efficient Fujitsu servers and storage systems in a pre-configured reference architecture running Red Hat's market-leading Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform software. PRIMEFLEX for Red Hat OpenStack is backed by a comprehensive portfolio of support and other professional services from Fujitsu.

Harald Bernreuther, Director Global Infrastructure Solutions at Fujitsu, says: "PRIMEFLEX for Red Hat OpenStack can underpin any organization's plan to transform their business model by leveraging cloud computing. By opting for an OpenStack-based solution, organizations can run new cloud-scale workloads while also optimizing costs. PRIMEFLEX for Red Hat OpenStack extends the philosophy of cost optimization, through simplifying system maintenance and consolidating technology updates across the entire system stack, all the way from the underlying hardware through to the operating system."

As open source software, OpenStack is one of the few cloud management platforms to enable multi-cloud environments through cloud standardization and provider integration. Its highly modular and adaptable design enables the massively scalable and flexible platforms required to run new cloud-scale workloads. Large pools of compute, storage, and networking resources are managed through a dashboard, the OpenStack API or via a portal for self-service provisioning, such as the FUJITSU Systemwalker Service Catalog Manager.

Radhesh Balakrishnan, General Manager, OpenStack, Red Hat comments: "OpenStack is a rapidly-growing, open source cloud infrastructure platform that is cost-effective, open, flexible and highly scalable. We are excited about Fujitsu's offering based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform to deliver private cloud infrastructure solutions and we look forward to continuing the collaboration to provide customers with an innovative cloud platform for digital business initiatives"
