Since the closure of traditional cinemas due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions the streaming services subscribers have skyrocketed. Disney Plus is one to watch as its aggressive global growth strategy has been effective in harnessing the Asian viewer base, so much so, that it is launching its Disney Plus including its new addition Star into the South East Asian market on 23 Feb 2021, beginning with Singapore.
Streaming services such as Netflix, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime Video are all experiencing delays in the production of original content however are remaining competitive with broadcasting more diverse content from independent filmmakers globally.
