Overnight joint-leader Mark Hensby has shot a second-round 65 to trail Germany's Alex Cejka by a single shot at the Invited Celebrity Classic in Irving, Texas.
The Australian, who is searching for his first win on the Champions tour, posted an eagle on the par-5 10th to go with five birdies and a bogey. He sits 11-under-par after 36 holes.
"I got a good break on 10," Hensby said.
"It was kind of wet and the ball skidded and went in. That got things started (and I) played pretty solid overall today."
Cejka fired a 7-under 64 to take sole possession of the top spot, while Charlie Wi of South Korea also carded a 64 to vault 19 spots up the leaderboard into third.
The German, seeking his third win on the Champions tour, sits at 12-under 130 after two rounds at Las Colinas Country Club.
Cejka posted four birdies on the front and another three on the back.
"I'm playing great," Cejka said.
"It's been a tough two challenging days. I've heard there's more wind and more rain coming. It's not going to be pleasant.
"It's going to make it a little bit tricky, but I love where I'm standing on the board."
Rob Labritz, who had shared the first-round lead with Hensby and Cejka, scuffled to a 71 and fell to a tie for 12th at five under.
Australia's Stuart Appleby is in a tie for sixth after a second-round 68 took him to six under overall, while countryman Richard Green is two shots back in equal 18th.
Rod Pampling's 72 earned him a share of 31st at two under overall, one shot ahead of David McKenzie.
John Senden completes the Australian contingent, sharing 65th with former world No.2 Colin Montgomerie after a second-round 73 left him three over.
