The Edinburgh Investment Trust PLC, a constituent of the FTSE 250 and established in 1889, is an investment trust that gives investors an exposure to large companies and invests 20 per cent of the portfolio in overseas markets in the US, Canada, France, Switzerland, and the Netherland.  The company's business comprises a pooled fund by investors and shareholders in accordance with the specific investment objective and strategy. The company's investment portfolio mainly includes pharmaceuticals, food producers, food and drug retail, biotechnology, healthcare, mining, aerospace, oil and gas, life insurance and industrial engineering.

The company's main objective is to increase Net Asset Value per share compared to the FTSE All-share index and growth in dividends that can offset inflation. The trust is managed by James de Uphaugh, who is the Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Majedie Asset Management, along with Chris Field, Executive Director at the Majedie Asset Management, and a team of 20 fund managers and analysts.
