Founded in 2000, Starvest Plc is a UK-based investment company that supports early-stage mineral exploration ventures with a focus on small business issues and pre-initial public offering opportunities in the mineral exploration and natural resource industry. The company invests in the early-stage finance fledgling businesses to enhance the value of capital and delivering high capital growth and modest dividend to its shareholders. The company’s shares are traded on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange as LON: SVE.

The company’s portfolio include investment in companies such as Greatland Gold plc, Ariana Resources Plc, Alba Mineral Resources Plc, Oracle Power Plc, Cora Gold Limited, Kefi Gold and Copper Plc and Sunrise Resources Plc. further, the non-core investments available for sale includes Block Energy Plc, Kincora Copper Plc and Minera IrI Ltd. the company also have investment in investment companies such as Equity Resources Limited, Equity Investors plc and Guild Investment plc. The company has no excusive commitment to the natural resources sector; however, the investments are usually made immediately before listing in AIM or ISDX or aftermarket. Its investment policy is to acquire interest in businesses as it believes to have opportunities in businesses by taking a direct interest in mining projects and using these projects as consideration for shares in such businesses. These projects will not be managed by the company.

The company initially invests varying amounts but usually up to £100,000 in businesses, which required capital in order to continue exploration and development. The company may offer funding after appropriate due diligence to support and make later market purchases. The company diversifies its investment in mineral exploration and natural resource sector to deliver potential returns for foreseeable future.  As the company invests in small business, almost invariably lack share market liquidity even if they are quoted on AIM, ASX, ISDX or TSX-V, it would be difficult to sell an investment at a market price until the business grow and attract market interest. The company invest in 25 to 35 businesses at any one time, it is expected that no more than five investment to be prove winners; from half of the remainder is expected to see modest share price improvement. The company needs to distribute half of the profit when it is realized and it has adequate cash.
