Freeport Resources Inc. (TSXV:FRI)

Freeport Resources Inc. is a junior mining company focused on copper resources. The principal business of the company involves the acquisition, evaluation, exploration and development of mineral properties containing copper and gold. The company was incorporated in February 1981, in the Canadian Province of British Columbia.

Freeport Resources is a public firm listed on the Toronto Venture Stock Exchange, where its common shares are traded under the stock quote FRI. The mineral exploration firm is also listed on the OTCQB market in the United States under the trading symbol FEERF.

The Vancouver-headquartered miner operates a diverse portfolio of mineral projects. The company operates the Star Mountains Project situated within the prolific Papua New Guinea Orogenic (PNG) Belt, at approximately 25 kilometers distance from the Ok Tedi Mine.

Star Mountains is a copper and gold property backed by good infrastructure, including an airstrip, helicopter pad, core shed, exploration camp and nearly located supply centers and support from the local community. Olgal, Fune, Futik, Kum Kum, Buntin and Salifortikin, and Pad 48 are the advanced and conceptual mineralized targets at the project site.

In August 2021, the company acquired a 100 per cent stake in the Yandera Copper Project situated about 95 kilometers southwest of Madang, lying in the Bismark Mountain Range, PNG. The Yandera Project is the flagship of the company and manages its logistical operations from Madang. The Project is equipped with roads, port facilities, tidewater access, air transportation, phone services and diesel camps.

Both projects strategically sit within the proliferous New Guinea Orogenic Belt that hosts various major mines, namely the Fried River, Grasberg, Wafi, Progera and Hidden Valley. Freeport Resources believes that copper is the new oil considering the sustainability factor. The transition towards green energy technologies is likely to create a high demand for copper, which puts Freeport at an advantageous position, as Yandera is one of the world’s most underdeveloped copper mines.

Reportedly, the Star Mountains Property holds the potential for three billion pounds of copper equivalent or conversely seven million ounces of gold equivalent. Thus, the company is working on exploration and drilling operations to discover, evaluate and exploit new prospective targets in order to expand its mineral potential and further lead its projects towards advancement.
