Focus Graphite Inc. (TSXV:FMS)


Focus Graphite Inc is a mineral exploration company that develops, explores, and acquires mining properties in Canada. 

It is a development-stage company that focuses on producing graphite concentrate through its wholly owned Lac Tétépisca and Lac Knife project in Québec. 

The firm got listed on TSXV in May 2010 under the stock quote of ‘FMS’. 

The company, formerly known as Focus Metals Inc, rebranded to Focus Graphite Inc in May 2012. 

In October 2010, IAMGOLD sold its 100 per cent stake in the Lac Knife property to Focus Graphite Inc. The company owns and operates Lac Knife high purity natural flake graphite project in the Quebec region. 

The mining company focuses on innovating and developing high-quality graphite materials and products for clean energy industries. Graphite is used in the Li-ion batteries, electric vehicles, energy storage, photovoltaics, smartphones and laptops. 

In 2010, the development stage firm signed an option agreement with SOQUEM Inc to own 50 per cent interest in the Kwyjibo Rare Earth property. 

The company conducts development and exploration operations at two Quebec-based properties, namely Lac Tetepisca and Lac Guinecourt. 

Lac Knife property 

Lac Knife property hosts medium, fine and superfine grade of graphite resources. It is situated approximately 27 kilometers south of Fermont and consists of 57 mining claims in 29,863 hectares of land. 

The firm claims that Lac Knife produces approximately the world’s 15 per cent graphitic carbon. 

According to the feasibility study of Met-Chem Canada Inc (August 8, 2014), Lac Knife can develop low-cost, high margin flake graphite deposits in the world at $441 per ton, the mineral exploration claims. 

The company also produces high-grade coated spherical graphite for lithium-ion batteries through its operations at this property. 

Lac Tétépisca Property 

The Canadian company’s 100 per cent owned property consists of 102 contiguous map-designated claims, totaling 5,503.08 hectares. The new graphite bearing discovered project is located approximately 234 km northwest of Baie-Comeau, near the Québec region. 

In August 2011, the company acquired a 100 per cent stake interest in the Lac Tétépisca project. 

Lac Guinécourt Property 

The firm acquired this property in August 2010. It further claims that property is spread in 4,012 hectares and hosts 74 map-designated mining claims.
