FW Thorpe plc is a UK-based company that designs, manufactures, and supplies professional lighting systems. It was founded in the year 1936, and initially designed and manufactured only vitreous enamelled steel reflectors, and its headquarters were situated in Birmingham. In 1989, it shifted its headquarters to Redditch, United Kingdom, and has been expanding the Redditch manufacturing facility till today. The Redditch facility now contains an in-house registered photometric laboratory and a self-contained factory covering 16,882 square meters. The first acquisition of the company was in 1990 when it acquired Mackwell Electronics, and it has continued acquiring more companies since then, including Philip Payne, Solite Europe, Portland Lighting etc. The company got listed publicly on the London Stock Exchange in 1965 and was transferred to Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange in 2005. It is a member of the Lighting Industry Association UK.
The company operates across the UK, the Netherlands, other countries in Europe like Ireland, Spain, Germany, as well as in UAE and Australia. It has a skilled and qualified workforce of over 600 people who help in delivering the high-quality products of the company across its area of operation.
