Alphabet Inc is an American multinational conglomerate and the parent company of tech giant Google Inc.
The company was founded as part of the restructuring of Google in 2015 by founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin.
The new entity replaced Google Inc as a publicly traded corporation, wherein all shares of the tech juggernaut were automatically converted into equal number Alphabet shares.
Alphabet Inc is headquartered in California’s Mountain View in the US.
Alphabet represents a collection of many companies, with Google Inc as the largest wholly owned subsidiary. As a holding company, Alphabet's significant assets are the outstanding equity interests in its subsidiaries, including Google.

The holding company broadly operates under two business segments: Google and Other Bets.

The Class C capital shares trade on NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation) under the ticker 'GOOG'. The Class C shares do not carry voting rights.
The company reportedly focuses on improving transparency, creating better focus, empowering entrepreneurs and undertaking ambitious projects.
Alphabet Inc’s three other subsidiaries are Google LLC, Google Ireland Holdings and XXVI Holdings Inc.
