Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has indicated that states that have vaccinated 80% of people above 16 years of age can resume international travel. Those vaccinated citizens would be able to move overseas after showing a QR code-based vaccination passport form.

Vaccination Statistics

As per a recent report released by the Australian government on 5 September 2021, a total of 20,855,353 vaccine doses had been administered as of 4 September 2021. Around 62.7% of the people above 16 years have had at least one dose. A total of 7,879,487 people are fully vaccinated (38.2% of the total population in the country).

Based on the statistics shared by the Australian Government, Department of Health, it seems that New South Wales is in the lead to travel abroad and welcome international travel. It appears that 80% of the population of the region might get fully vaccinated by November 2021.

After New South Wales, ACT and TAS are two regions where currently 68.90% and 62.64% of the population have been vaccinated with dose 1.

In QLD and WA, only 53.08% and 53.40% of the population are vaccinated with a single dose.
