T-Mobile (TMUS) Q1 revenue grows 7%, propelled by 5G expansion

America’s leading telecommunications company T-Mobile (TMUS) on Wednesday posted revenue of US$15.1 billion for the first quarter revenue of fiscal 2022.

The strong performance was driven by an unprecedented increase in 5G connections. Its diluted earnings per share (EPS) were US$0.57.   

T-Mobile, which delivers advanced 4G LTE and 5G networks, posted service revenue growth of 7% YoY to US$15.1 billion and an industry-leading service revenue growth of 9% in postpaid connections. It added 348,000 postpaid net accounts, the best Q1 record for any company.

T-Mobile also added 1.3 million postpaid net customers, the highest Q1 number in eight years.

It also reported postpaid phone net customer additions of 589,000 in the quarter. Its 338,000 high-speed internet net customer additions are also the best in the industry and a record high.

Maintains status quo as industry growth leader

“T-Mobile continues to be the growth leader in this industry with another beat and raise quarter,” said Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile.  

He also said that T-Mobile’s unparalleled network leadership in the 5G era empowered them to give customers the best network and best value without compromise. It resolves one of the most prevalent pain points in the wireless industry, he added.

Its 984,000 high-speed internet customer addition in the quarter reflects its market stranglehold. TMUS has a high-speed Internet customer base of over one million.    

T-Mobile owns a market share of 95% in 5G Network

Surpassing even the top and old players in the market like Verizon and AT&T, T-Mobile has penetrated over 315 million households or 95% of Americans across 1.8 million square miles.

T-Mobile has been crowned as the 5G leader in the US, the country's fastest and most readily available network.

T-Mobile has been awarded as the market leader in the Ookla Q1 Speedtest Market Analysis in terms of overall speed, highest consistency, fastest 5G speed and best 5G availability.

It has also been named once again as the ‘number one company’ in ‘US telecommunications for environmental action’ by JUST Capital. T-Mobile has bagged the EPA’s Sustainable Material Management Electronics Challenge for two years in a row.
