Ara Ake’s Launch in New Plymouth to Boost Clean Energy | NZX Market Update

Ara Ake has been launched in New Plymouth by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and Energy Minister Megan Woods.

The Government-funded future Energy Development Centre, Ara Ake, would lead the development of new clean energy technologies that would aid in combating climate change; and work with numerous businesses to commercialise their innovations, creating jobs.

As per PM Jacinda Ardern, this timely launch would further support the kiwi nation in meeting the long-term challenge of transitioning to a net-zero carbon emissions nation by 2050.

Govt to Subsidise Negotiation, Mediation To Resolve Commercial Rent Disputes.

Justice Minister Andrew Little has said that the government is allocating NZD 40 million to assist with the cost of mediation and arbitration for businesses and landlords to fix issues about adjusting rent during COVID-19.

He said that it is essential for businesses to find solutions as it will help NZ to recover from the economic impacts of the pandemic.

The funding shall help the tenants and landlords with the financial crunch to be able to reach dispute resolution services.

New Zealand, Indonesia Build Ties During COVID-19 Pandemic.

Foreign Minister Winston Peters has said that NZ is strengthening its international partnerships and engagement with regional leaders like Indonesia. He said such ties are more important than ever.

Two-way trade between NZ and Indonesia has increased to NZD 2.38 billion in the year ending June 2020. Both the countries discussed the impact of the pandemic in their respective countries and shared views on regional issues.
