As per Stats NZ, the total number of home transfers dropped by 30 per cent in June 2020. However, the proportion of home transfers to people who are not citizens of NZ remain steady at 0.4 per cent.

June 2020 quarter saw the transfer of over 26,000 homes as compared to 38,000 in the June 2019 quarter. The drop began due to Covid-19 level 4 lockdown on 26 March 2020, which eased as level 3 on 28 April.

The June 2020 quarter's number of home transfer is the lowest since the beginning of the series in 2016.
