Eugenie Sage, Minister of Conservation, announced a budget of $13.7 million to reconstruct Vital conservation and visitor infrastructure, which were destroyed by a severe flood in Fiordland this year. The package comprises:
- $4.21m of associated operating costs for the assets repaired and replaced;
- $9.52m capital expenditure like material and labour costs of replacing assets such as tracks, bridges, and huts.
