PGF Decides to Provide $60 million for Job Creation

Shane Jones, Regional Economic Development Minister, declared that the PGF (Provincial Growth Fund) shall offer $60 million to KiwiRail and councils to generate employment for local workers.

  • This is made up of $27.2 million for local roading projects, $26 million for rail projects and about $6.8 million for the Ministry of Social Development;
  • This means about 800 Kiwis most in need of employment due to the economic effects of COVID-19 can be employed into work in their own communities.
