Govt Supporting Stranded Seasonal Workers with More Flexible Working Options

Every year up to 14,400 migrant workers come to NZ for seasonal work in the horticulture and viticulture industries. Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway has said that the seasonal employers and stranded workers will be able to continue working and shall support themselves with more flexible working hours and roles.

As per the changes in the time-limited visa:

  • Stranded RSE workers would be able to do part-time with no limit on roles.
  • Workers need to have an employment agreement with an RSE employer.
  • Additional time an RSE worker spends in the country will not counted.
