McPherson’s Limited (ASX:MCP) rejects Gallin’s buyout offer, shares surge
The share price of the stock McPherson’s Limited (ASX:MCP) gained up to 2.1% to A$1.445 after it rejected a takeover bid from Gallin Pty Ltd which holds 4.95% interest in McPherson’s.
Gallin has offered to buy out MCP at A$1.34 per share.
McPherson’s said that the offer undervalued the Company.

Strike Energy (ASX:STX) posts gains as results beat forecast at West Erregulla gas field
The share price of Strike Energy Limited (ASX:STX) gained as much as 6.1% to A$0.350 per share as the drilling results at West Erregulla Gas field in Western Australia on behalf of the EP469 joint venture are above expectations.
As per the Company, throughout the entire reservoir, no gas water was seen while only gas was observed.
EP469 is a joint venture between Strike Energy and Warrego Energy.
The stock has risen up to 15.6% so far.

Australian miners hit one-month high, set for five-day winning streak
The Australian sub-index for miners AXMM gained as much as 1.7% on Thursday.
The Australian miners take cues from Aisa’s benchmark iron ore futures that rose in Wednesday, as investors lapped up record steel prices in China.
Mining giants BHP Group Limited (ASX:BHP) and Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) both were up 2.4%.
Also, Australian gold sub-index AXGD rose as much as 1.1% with Newcrest Mining Limited (ASX:NCM) gaining 0.9%.

Morgan Stanley cuts PT on Afterpay (ASX:APT), raises concerns from CBA’s entry into the BNPL market
As per refinitiv, Financial Research firm Morgan Stanley has cut the price target of Buy-Now, Pay-Later firm Afterpay Limited (ASX:APT) to A$149 per share, from A$159 per share as the firm says Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA) will also be entering into the BNPL sector which has crystallised investor concerns on price competition.
CBA, in the month of March, became Australia’s first major lender to offer its own BNPL service.
Nine of 13 analysts rate the stock ‘buy’ or higher, three ‘hold’ and one ‘sell’. Their median price target, as per refinitiv, is A$149.50 per share.

The world's second-largest miner Rio Tinto (ASX:RIO) has commenced the lithium production from waste rocks at its borates mine in California.
- The demonstration plant has a production capacity of 10tpa. However, Rio plans to scale up the model into a commercial level by investing US$50 million and increasing the production capacity to 5,000tpa.
- The move by the Anglo-Australian miner will support green energy revolution that aims to transition towards a carbon neural global economy. .
- On the flip side, China commissioned 38.4 GW of new coal plants last year, 0.6 MW more than the coal-fueled power plants retired globally. The country accounts for more than 76 per cent of the world's total coal plants, which could offset the world's commitment to lower carbon footprints.

Oil rises on strong economic recovery prospects and falling US inventories

Crude oil prices inched higher on Wednesday over positive sentiments on global vaccination and prospects for stronger economic growth.
- Brent crude oil futures for June delivery trades 0.21 per cent down at US$62.92 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery traded at US$59.63, down 0.23 per cent on 8 April 2021 at 9:59 AM AEST.
- The prices were also fueled by the drop in US crude oil stocks that fell by over 3.5 million barrels last week, as per EIA data.
- The International Monetary Fund is expecting a global economic growth rate of 6% this year, the highest since 1970, boosting fuel demand growth outlook.
- However, the lifting of sanctions on Iran's energy sector by the US may increase the regulated oil market supply.

Jefferies praises Zip Co (ASX:Z1P) model but sees pressure on margins; initiates at ‘hold’
As per refinitiv, Jefferies has initiated coverage of Zip Co Limited (ASX:Z1P) with a ‘hold’ rating and price target of A$9.08, a 12% upside to stock’s last closing price.
The brokerage firm stated that Z1P has a unique business model that differentiates it from bigger BNPL players like Afterpay Limited.
As per Jefferies, most BNPL providers rely on merchants for majority of their revenues, but Z1P derives a vital proportion of its revenue from customers via fees and interest.
The research firm further elaborated that this model lets Z1P generate revenue margin of 7% of total transactions value, much higher than APT at 4%.

An unincorporated Joint Venture has been formed between SBM and APC to carry on the exploration, development and mining of mineral resources on the project.
