The government of Western Australia has announced that a royal commission will examine and explore Crown Resorts Limited's suitability (ASX:CWN) to carry on with its casino at Burswood.
The step is in the wake of the much-talked-about Bergin inquiry, which found that international criminal organisations were likely to have been laundering money at Crown Perth.
The royal commission will be run by three commissioners – Lindy Jenkins, Neville Owen and Colin Murphy.
Last month, the Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia recommended that government launch an independent inquiry into Crown’s fitness to hold a casino licence.
Meanwhile, the stock was trading down 0.503% at A$9.910 at 2:06 PM AEDT.
