HRC and CRC Steel Prices Extend Decline in South America as Buyers Receive Deep Discounts

Hot-rolled coil steel and cold-rolled coil steel again under pressure in South America as producers deepen discounts for securing orders.

  • The offers from Brazil, China, Japan and Commonwealth of Independent States reached buyers in South America at lower levels.
  • The global price provider- Fastmarkets assessed the price for steel HRC, import, CFR main ports South America, at USD 450 to 475 per tonne for the week ended 18 October 2019, down by USD 10 to USD 5 against the previous week price assessment of USD 460 to USD 480 a tonne.
  • The CRC or cold-rolled coil was assessed to stand at USD 495 to USD 475 a tonne (for the week ended 18 October 2019), down by USD 30 to USD 20 a tonne against the previous week price assessment.
