Flat steel import prices remain stable in South America for the week ended 11 October 2019; however, the hot-rolled coil steel prices plunge over aggressive bids and offers.

  • Import prices for flat-rolled steel products were stable during the week ended 11 October 2019 in South America as Chinese mills did not significantly change offers made before their Golden Week holiday;
  • As per Fastmarkets, HRC was priced at $460-480 per tonne on 11th of October 11, viz a viz $465-490 per tonne previous week;
  • The aggressive trade offers and customer bids, especially from the continent’s Pacific coast, continued to put downward pressure on the price of hot-rolled coil steel.
