The passing of legislation by the State government which gave effect to the $20,000 HomeBuilder Grant was supported by industry and Tasmanians looking to enter the market for new home.
The grant complements the Federal government’s HomeBuilder incentive of $25,000. Since the announcement, HIA was in consultation with the government with respect to details of the scheme to certify its workability & to increase its economic effects. This resulted in several changes to eligibility conditions, including:
- The Commissioner of State Revenue shall have discretion to extend the construction deadline by up to three months.
- Confirmation that all new homes (including spec homes and off the plan) for an owner-occupier shall be eligible provided a building contract or agreement for sale entered between 4 June 2020 & 31 December 2020 and the work did not commence prior to 4 June 2020.
