LIT's Environstream completes micronutrient field trial activities

Envirostream Australia Pty Ltd a 90% held subsidiary of Lithium Australia NL (ASX: LIT) has declared that the field activities of its experiments related to zinc and manganese as a source of micronutrients fertiliser are complete now. The metals used in the experiment were extracted from Envirostream's recycling of alkaline batteries.

The background

In line with LIT's commitment for a circular battery environment, Envirostream was researching to find out if the zinc and manganese extracted as by-products during alkaline batteries recycling is useful in plant fertilisers as compared to the traditional mono-ammonium phosphate (MAP) fertiliser.

Envirostream gave a positive update on the field trial in November with pictures of plants that received these zinc and manganese as fertilisers. These plants seemed much healthier than those which did not get any such processing.

Now the company has confirmed that on 14 December 2020, they completed the field trial harvest. Above are pictures of the harvest activities at the field trial site in West Tambellup, WA.

Envirostream also informed that Yield, grain and overall statistical analysis for getting the actual picture about the exact performance of these extracted metals as a micronutrient in the field is likely to be undertaken progressively and concluded in Q1 2021.

On 17 December 2020, at AEDT 12:01 PM, LIT was trading at AUD 0.068, down by 4.226%.
